Our Statement Regarding WCSB

Panza Foundation supports Northern Ohio’s independent bands. The musical acts we’ve championed over the past 11 years have equally been promoted within Northern Ohio's robust college radio landscape. WRUW, WJCU, WBWC, and – at least until this past Friday – WCSB have all played important roles in promoting our bands, our foundation, and the region's independent spirit.
Like so many of its college radio peers, WCSB spent 49 years promoting the things our humble music foundation cherishes: eclecticism, creativity, independence, and, yes, a fair amount of subversion.
When bands are forcing themselves through the gauntlet that is the music industry, they recognize immediately that their allies are like-minded individuals who believe that the arts matter, that music is special, that difference is an asset, and that diversity of expression is essential.
Independent music and college radio are inextricably linked.
Panza Foundation looks forward to our November 14 City Club forum with Patrick Carney of The Black Keys. This forum will be an opportunity for everyone in the community to experience how Patrick's underground band started, grew through support by college radio and independent clubs, and catapulted to international stages, promoting Northern Ohio to the world.
As with all City Club events, the forum will be broadcast live on IDEASTREAM.
We encourage everyone to tune in, send in questions, and, if possible, attend.
